Last weekend 5 other photographers and I got together for a headshot exchange session. We met each other through an online photographer’s hangout called the [b]school. The purpose of the [b] school is to connect photographers, since most own their own business, so its hard to know more people.
This headshot exchange get together created a great opportunity to get to know each other, the way each of us shoots, how we interact with the model and have beautiful photos of ourselves as an incentive, not to say, more friends !

First up, we have Araxi of Araxi Photography , she’s fun and full of joy. Araxi took us around her neighborhood, and found us great places to shoot. This shoot wouldn’t have as many variety of texture and color without her.
Araxi took us to this old theater with fun color and texture. It’s very different , when we got there, woo and ahhs and compliments were nonstop.
Next up is Joel Llacar of Joel Llacar Photography , Joel is full of smiles all day, just looking at his smily face puts me in a better mood.
Here is Joel with his Boda bag in action ( he’s smiling even when he’s taking pictures)
Next up is Heidi Ryder of HLA Photography , she’s humorous and very easy going. With a girl next door personality, everyone wants to be with Heidi.
Then we have the posing director of the session, Joel Arellano of Arellano Photography , Joel’s very good with verbally communicate the poses he wants, and he’s great with getting shots from various angles in the same setting. He was always on the go, to find the next angle he likes.
Here’s Joel in action, photographing Heidi next to the yellow door.
putting his posing talent to good use
A little behind the scene of the session, how awesome is this, when was the last time you get 5 photographers with different styles taking head shots for you? SWEET !
The model is our lovely Lisa Scarsi of Lisa Scarsi Photography , she’s a mom of two and proud of her kids. I’m not sure how she kept that figure after two children. I gotta say she’s got some tricks up her sleeves.
Lisa definitely knows how to work the camera, the minute she’s up, she’ll give us great angles and various poses, makes it very easy for us.
Now its not a Photographer’s meet without cool cameras. Photo of me is courtesy of Araxi of Araxi Photography
I had a lot of fun! Not to say we all got a great amount of images of ourselves by the end of the day. This is definitely one of the best ways to hang out , exchange techniques and enjoy each other’s company. Lets do this again in 2009 !
